November 2020: Sewing a better future

12 young women from Dharampur were trained in tailoring and garment making at Atul Institute of Vocational Excellence (AIVE). During the ongoing pandemic, these women stitched face masks of various types in large quantities. They are now taking stitching orders and running their own enterprises from their homes.

Recently, AIVE supported this group of women to start a ‘Gram mart’ (a retail cloth shop) in Baroliya village. Masks, ready-made garments and other cloth items are sold through the mart. In a month, the group sold items worth ₹ 10,000.

Currently the group is undergoing advanced sewing training for embroidery and mass uniform stitching.
